Revenue Sharing

• How does this work?

  What we have done is setup a system so the ad revenue can be shared between all active gagsters.

  This website displays two 300 x 250 advertisement blocks in the right area, a 720 x 90 advertisement block and as well is inline when viewing a gag. We use Google AdSense to automatically serve relevant ads for the content on the page. Google pays AdSense publishers on a per click basis as well as per impression.

  If a user has an AdSense account, they have the ability to credit their account with the ads served on gag page which they submit.

• Why are we doing this?

  Gagster.me is nothing without the users. So we figure why not let the users make a little money on gag they created or shared.

• What are the restrictions?

  You must have an AdSense account through Google.

• What percentage of revenue is shared?

  The more popular your gag, the higher your earnings are. This is to ensure quality gags are shared.

  • Your AdSense client ID will be used 10% of the time when the your gag is in Vote stage.

  • Your AdSense client ID will be used 30% of the time when the your gag is in Trending stage.

  • Your AdSense client ID will be used 60% of the time when the your gag is in Hot stage.

• How much money can I make on Gagster.me

  There are revenue generating opportunities with Gagster.me, but we are careful not to over-promise any results.

  That said, those who submit high-quality Gags on what the member likes can earn a steady side-income through Gagster.me.

  The most important thing to keep in mind is that gags that are voted Trending and HOT leads to significant earnings. Many Gagsters are earning hundreds of dollars, if not more, every month; continuously publishing high quality Gags has been the key to their success.

• Is this allowed by Google?

  Absolutely! Google has a flexible revenue sharing API that allow members to check their earnings directly on the website. Though we did not use this API, this is allowed.

• How do I set it up?

  You will need to go to the Setting in your user area. Within there, you will find an option to enter your AdSense client ID (this starts with pub-"your adsense id"). You can optionally specify a Channel if you wish as well.

• I'm worried about you having my AdSense Client ID.

  The only info we need for it is info that is publicly available if you look at the source of any page that has your AdSense ads.

  If you are still worried about it then the best thing to do is not participate.

• How long will you be doing this?

  While we can't guarantee it will run forever, there are no plans to stop it at any point.

  But we do retain the right to halt the program or make adjustments to it as necessary if it's not working out in it's current form for whatever reason.

• I look at the HTML source on posts I've made and I never see my AdSense Client ID.

  The system will never display your own AdSense Client ID to you (as long as you are logged in).

  This is to prevent people from unknowingly violating the Adsense terms and conditions (specifically the part about clicking your own ads).

• What important things do I have to know

  Never, and we repeat never click on your own ads or ask someone else to click it for you. Google has a very clever system in place for click fraud and once your Adsense Account is ban by Google, you will never be able to apply for another one in this lifetime!
